Etymology: Cetopsorhamdia: Greek, ketos = a marine monster, whale + Brazilian vernacular name, Nhamdia/Jamdia (Ref. 45335); ramirezi: Name 'ramirezi' in honor of Hernando Ramírez Gil, for his invaluable contribution to the knowledge and conservation of ornamental and food fishes in Colombia.
