Etymology: Callogobius: Greek, kalos, kallos = beautiful + Latin, gobius = gudgeon (Ref. 45335); williamsi: Name 'williamsi' in honor of Dr. Jeffrey Williams who collected the holotype and recognized it as a new species.

(Ref. 129405).
