Etymology: Titanolebias: The name of the genus is composed of Titan and the Greek 'lebias' meaning ‘small fish', referring to the relative size of the fishes of this genus within Aplocheiloidei, bearing the largest species in this suborder of fishes, with T. elongatus reaching 15.5 cm SL (MACN 3826) and
T. monstrosus 15 cm (MNK P-3301).

This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: 5 pelvic-fin rays; 70-85 scales in the longitudinal series; 34 vertebrae; black and white intercalated blotches in the posterior portion of the dorsal fin; white iridescent spots on the basal portion of the anal and caudal fins; brownish-grey to greenish-grey flanks with iridescent whitish spots (Ref. 137523).

This species is found in artificial channels 25 cm deep, with substrate composed of clay (Ref. 137523).
