Dorsale stekels (totaal) : 7; Dorsale zachte stralen (totaal) : 10; Anale stekels: 1; Anale zachte stralen: 9; Wervels: 26. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: D2 I, 9-10;
head is somewhat large, length 32.9-34.4% of SL; lateral surface of nape with scales; postorbital pore G in anterior oculoscapular canal; gill opening is relatively narrow, anteroventral point extending slightly forward to vertical level of the preopercle margin; caudal fin is asymmetrical
dorsoventrally, with rays in upper half much longer than those in lower half, giving obliquely pointed appearance. Colouration: body with seven bright yellow bars, pale whitish in preserved specimens, two lunder the first dorsal-fin base, remainder under second dorsal-fin (from origin) and on caudal peduncle; dorsal fins are pale brown with bright yellow barred pattern; first dorsal
fin without broad black margin; pectoral fin is bright yellow; three bright yellow vertical bars on the upper part of caudal fin; no distinct black spot at the centre of caudal-fin base (Ref. 129320).
