Africa: lower Congo, Kasai, Kwango, Dja, Aruwimi, Wagenia Falls, Lualaba and upper Lualaba in Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of Congo and Angola (Ref. 11970, 12818, 87986, 106245, 106290). Also in the Rungumba River (Lake Tanganyika affluent) in Democratic Republic of the Congo (Ref. 12818). Probably absent from West-Central and West Africa, where Chiloglanis batesii is found; reports of the latter from the Congo basin probably refer to Chiloglanis micropogon.
