Dorsale stekels (totaal) : 0; Dorsale zachte stralen (totaal) : 13 - 17; Anale stekels: 0; Anale zachte stralen: 15 - 16. Males with dark red spots on lower part of head and throat; dorsal and anal fins with wide white-blue to light blue margins; caudal fin plain red; females with spots on head, body and unpaired fins (Ref. 42930).
Body shape (shape guide): fusiform / normal.

Inhabits water levels close to the substrate of pools. These pools are ephemeral and usually dry up seasonally. Collected from areas of pools with the highest grass density (Ref. 42930).
