Found among corals or sea fans in lagoon and seaward reefs (Ref. 30874). Adults in pairs or small aggregations when in the open or in safe places at night (Ref. 48635). Ovoviviparous (Ref. 205). The male carries the eggs in a brood pouch which is found under the tail (Ref. 205). Monogamous and always in home-ranging pairs, that is they do not defend an exclusive territory (Ref. 52884).
