Etymology: Pyrrhulina: Greek, pyrrhos = red, with the colour of the fire (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Mrs Eleanor Morrow was the wife of William Penn Morrow, who led the Peruvian expedition that collected the holotype. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.

Taxonomic Remarks
Known until recently only from the holotype, this species was collected in 1994 by D. Schleser in the lower Napo River and subsequently in the Iquitos region. Marilyn Weitzman, pers. comm., Eschmeyer, 1998:516, Ortega and Vari, 1986:11.
