Etymology: Fundulus: Latin, fundus = bottom; a peculiar name for a topminnow, coined for a bottom species of Atlantic coast being "the abode of the fundulus mudfish" (Ref. 45335); blairae: From the word fundus meaning bottom, though fishes are largely surface oriented; blairae: named after Blair Knies, for her assistance in field work associated with project (Ref. 79012).
Eponymy: Ms Blair Knies, according to the etymology was honoured “…for her assistance in all the field work associated with the project.” We have been unable to add more. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
