Etymology: Jupiaba: An indigenous word from Brazil, in the region where Angela (Ichthyologist) was born and discovered several new fishes. (Personal communication from Barry Chernoff, Curator Fishes/Museum of Chicago.
Eponymy: Dr Philippe Keith is an aquatic biologist at MNHN, Paris and at the Sorbonne, at both of which he is a Professor. He co-wrote: Poissons et crustacés d’eau douce des Iles Marquises (2016). He helped collect the holotype. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
