Found in lakes and adjoining channels. Feeds on detritus. Herbivore (Ref. 40972). Breeding grounds are found in cold and clear pockets of lakes, particularly on the roots of willow trees (Ref. 40974).
Eggs are either scattered in clutches along the bottom, or adhering to submerged willow roots.
