Etymology: Rhinolepadichthys: The suffix 'rhino', meaning nose, in combination with the genus Lepadichthys, refers to the pointed snout in members of this genus, which distinguishes the new genus from Lepadichthys (sensu stricto).

Lives on the crinoidsLamprometra klunzingeri and Capillaster multiradiata and feeds on the pinnulae of its hosts (Ref. 33548). Often swims about openly when feeding or simply moving about where there are a lot of crinoids (Ref. 48635).
