Eponymy: Padre Anastacio Luis Rosa was a Portuguese parish priest in Angola. He was honoured for his ‘helpful courtesy during a seven years’ friendship’ with explorer William John Ansorge (q.v.), who collected the type. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.

Africa: Cuanza River basin in Angola (Ref. 2801, 108777, 120641). Possibly only known from the type locality (Lucalla River at Lucalla, Angola)(Ref. 2801). Reported as Labeobarbus cf. rosae from the lower Congo (Ref. 94750); needs confirmation.
