Presence in the upper Congo River basin in Zambia (Ref. 3202) is unconfirmed (Ref. 52193) and questionable. Also reported from the Pungwe and Buzi systems and east coast rivers in Tanzania (Ref. 7248, 52193). Several undetermined <i>Chiloglanis</i> populations from East and Central as well as South Africa have been assigned to this species, although it is only inadequately known; also Rufiji/Ruaha specimens are not conspecific (Ref. 78218).
