Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 7; dH range: 15
Distribution:  Former USSR: basins of Balkhash and Alakuk; also in Ayaguz, Kazakhstan. Asia: China (Ref. 33800).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits slow current, backwater of streams or lakes over sandy and gravel bottom (Ref. 51717). Oviparous (Ref. 205). Matures at 70 mm SL or more (Ref. 57754).
