Family:  Catostomidae (Suckers), subfamily: Catostominae
Max. size:  18 cm TL (male/unsexed); max. reported age: 5 years
Environment:  demersal; freshwater, non-migratory
Distribution:  North America: Upper Dan River system (in Roanoke River drainage) in Virginia, USA.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults inhabit rocky riffles and runs of swift mountain creeks and small rivers. Young occur in flowing pools.
IUCN Red List Status: Near Threatened (NT); Date assessed: 03 August 2012 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
