Family:  Heptapteridae (Three-barbeled catfishes)
Max. size:  38.6 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Ecuador.
Diagnosis:  This species has the following characters: pigmented body; functional eyes; dorsal fin base 14.4-19.4% of SL; origin of adipose fin anterior to the anus; maxillary barbels extend beyond pelvic fin origin; adipose fin insertion equidistant between the dorsal fin and caudal fins; head length 25.8-30.1% of SL; adipose fin base 30.3-33.3% of SL; outer mental barbels extend to the base of the pectoral-fin rays; faint lateral longitudinal band (Ref. 108688).
