Family:  Ophichthidae (Snake eels), subfamily: Ophichthinae
Max. size:  71 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 3 - 30 m
Distribution:  Eastern Central Pacific: Gulf of California to Costa Rica; reported from the Galapagos Islands (Ref. 5227).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Lives in sand flats and rocky areas mixed with boulders, gravel rubble and sand. Can bury and move beneath sand or gravel rubble (Ref. 5227).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 13 September 2022 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
