| Diagnosis: | Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 12-14. This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: D2 <16½ branched rays, anal fin is 13½; total number of scales in mid-lateral series, including caudal fin scales, <50; pelvic fins do not reach anal opening; in individuals SL ? 40 mm, distance from anterior tip of snout to origin of second dorsal fin exceeds 50% SL and to origin of anal fin exceeds 56% SL; head length (c) 31-35% SL; eye large, typically more than 20% c, always markedly larger than interorbital distance, typically less than 20% c (Ref. 133014). | |||
