Family:  Haemulidae (Grunts), subfamily: Plectorhinchinae
Max. size:  40 cm SL (male/unsexed); max.weight: 1,050.0 g
Environment:  benthopelagic; marine, oceanodromous
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: southern Japan, East China Sea and Taiwan.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Cultured and released for fishery in Japan. The species prefers relative warm water, high salinity, and rocky shores. The species does seasonal offshore-inshore migrations in limited areas (Ref. 34104).
