Family:  Cepolidae (Bandfishes), subfamily: Owstoniinae
Max. size:  19 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 380 - 550 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific: New Caledonia and the Solomon Is.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 3-3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 19-21; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 12-13; Vertebrae: 28-28. This species is distinguished by the following characters: LL pattern type 1; D III,19-21; A I,12-13; the lower limb margin of preopercle without spines; a prominent dark premaxillary stripe; adults with 15-22 teeth in outer row of each premaxilla (Ref. 119093).
Biology:  Caught by beam trawl.
