Family:  Cichlidae (Cichlids), subfamily: Pseudocrenilabrinae
Max. size:  10.4 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 7 - 8.5; dH range: 10 - 15
Distribution:  Africa: endemic to the south eastern part of Lake Tanganyika (Ref. 46829, 56628, 93977).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Prefers shallow, rocky habitats; in the recesses of the rocky biotope (Ref. 7343, 46829). Normally found in the upper 10 m of this biotope (Ref. 46829). Feeds on invertebrates such as shrimps and other crustaceans (Ref. 46829), in the biocover or in the recesses of the substrate (Ref. 7343, 46829). Solitary (Ref. 46829). Substrate spawner; raises fry in seclusion (Ref. 7343).
