Family:  Leuciscidae (Minnows), subfamily: Pogonichthyinae
Max. size:  8 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: Rio Grande drainage in Big Bend region of southwestern Texas, USA; and in northern Mexico.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults inhabit sandy, rocky pools and runs of creeks and small rivers. Migratory behaviour is undetermined (Ref. 126106).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 05 March 2018 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
