| Diagnosis: | Vertebrae: 89-89. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: vertebrae 21+68=89; mouth wide, posterior edge of maxilla behind eye; opercular flap and labial lobe well-developed; absence of an oral valve; predorsal length less than head length; suborbital pores 7 (5+2); postorbital pores 6; presence of an interorbital pore; presence of occipital pores; lateral line ventral, distinct; pelvic-fin base anterior to isthmus; pectoral-fin rays exserted; scales absent on pectoral fin and its base; dorsal fin origin associated with vertebrae 2; pelvic fin rays 3; total gill rakers 8; and absence of a pyloric caeca, stomach black (Ref. 138442). | |||
