Family:  Zoarcidae (Eelpouts), subfamily: Gymnelinae
Max. size:  12.4 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 53 - 160 m
Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: coast of Kamchatka (Cape Africa by the southern border of the Bering Sea) and northeast of the Sea of Okhotsk (Shelikhov Bay, 58°50′ N, 157°02′ E).
Diagnosis:  This species is distinguished by the following characters: pungent spines XXIII-XXVI, all spiny rays 71-74, terminating above the vertebrae 73-75; length of D2 is 26-31% of the length of the caudal part of the body and 83-112% of the length of D3; scales extending anterior to the pectoral fins; preoperculo-mandibular pores (pm) seven (Ref. 130195).
Biology:  Inhabits the outer shelf (Ref. 11954).
