Family:  Poeciliidae (Poeciliids), subfamily: Poeciliinae
Max. size:  4.4 cm SL (male/unsexed); 7 cm SL (female)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater, non-migratory
Distribution:  Central America: Cuba.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Prefers to inhabit pools and areas along banks of swift, clear, cool, well-oxygenated highland streams. A midwater swimmer, never found at the surface and seldom on the bottom, over hard substrates composed of smooth rocks, gravel, or sand. Feeds on algae, aquatic plants and insect larvae.
