Max. size:  13.03 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Lago Maracaibo basin, Venezuela.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-11; Anal spines: 3-4; Anal soft rays: 40-45; Vertebrae: 38-38. The presence of a long thin and up-turned process on the posterosuperior region of the rhinosphenoid is autapomorphic for this species.
Biology:  Inhabits swamps or marshes of the lower reaches of rivers (Ref. 26543).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 15 January 2021 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
