Family:  Stomiidae (Barbeled dragonfishes), subfamily: Melanostomiinae
Max. size:  15 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 0 - 3000 m
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: Azores to the Canary Islands, and east of 45°W between 32°-38°N. Western Atlantic: off Brazil.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Mesopelagic species (Ref. 4468).
