Family:  Stomiidae (Barbeled dragonfishes), subfamily: Melanostomiinae
Max. size:  11.2 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 0 - 400 m
Distribution:  Eastern Central Pacific: near Hawaii. Probably elsewhere in the North Pacific.
Diagnosis:  Barbel with medial branch arising from stem and two lateral branches arising from medial just distal to stem; all three branches similar in structure with prominent bulblets at about half their lengths and ending in tapered filaments extending to or beyond terminal bulb; stem pigment extending onto proximal portion of terminal bulb; bulb without terminal filaments (Ref. 45801).
Biology:  Epi- and mesopelagic (Ref. 58302). Maximum depth range from 122680.
