Family:  Gobiidae (Gobies), subfamily: Gobionellinae
Max. size:  15 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; brackish; marine
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: South Carolina, USA to at least Pernambuco, Brazil; absent in the West Indies except Cuba (Ref. 7251).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 6-6; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-11; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 12-12
Biology:  Adults inhabit shallow, muddy bottoms of the continental shelf, often in turbid waters. Usually found among algae. A euryhaline species (Ref. 13628), with salinity ranging from 0.0 to 42.9 ppt (Ref. 97140). Also Ref. 7251.
