Family:  Salmonidae (Salmonids), subfamily: Coregoninae
Max. size:  55 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Europe: Lake Constance, Switzerland, Germany and Austria. Has been artificially hybridized with C. macrophthalmus and it is not known whether the 'original' species still exist (Ref. 59043).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 13; Anal soft rays: 12
Biology:  Lacustrine, near flat shores, or near bottom, sometimes on steep slopes. Inhabits and spawns in shallow coastal areas (Ref. 13696). Feeds on benthic invertebrates (especially mussels and snails). Spawns in shallow water along shores (Ref. 59043).
