Family:  Gobiidae (Gobies), subfamily: Gobiinae
Max. size:  6.6 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine, non-migratory
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: South Africa, India and Sri Lanka.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-10; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Upper 6 or 7 pectoral rays free from membrane, with 4-7 branches; head very depressed; upper jaw protrudes; mental frenum usually with a straight or slightly curved margin; V frenum with a smooth margin; prepelvic area naked.
