Family:  Loricariidae (Armored catfishes), subfamily: Hypostominae
Max. size:  22.37 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Brazil.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 2-2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-7; Anal soft rays: 4-4. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: interorbital width 25.9-29.6% of HL; dorsal-fin spine length 34.7-41.8% of SL; background gray to light-gray densely covered by large round to quadrangular light spots, larger than pupil; extension of dorsal-fin posterior membrane, reaching adipose-fin supporting plate; and completely naked abdomen (Ref. 138404).
