| Diagnosis: |
This species is distinguished by the following characteristics: parieto-supraoccipital fontanel located close to the origin of the posterior process and ventral surface of trunk covered by striated platelets; first dorsal-fin element, the spinelet absent; narrow frontal bone, its width smaller than half of its entire length; small preadipose azygous plates; pigmentation well-developed; anterior portion of infraorbital 1 with strongly reduced expansion, not reaching or at same level as posterior margin of nasal capsule (Ref. 129024). |

Usually found in shallow stretches (up to 20 cm), with moderate current, and substrate composed mainly by sand and gravel, and associated with marginal and/or submerged vegetation (Ref. 129024). |
