Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 6.5 - 8; dH range: 25
Distribution:  South America: Pacific slope from the Esmeraldas River in Ecuador to the Tumbes River in Peru.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  In small and larger coastal streams (Ref. 6329). Females care for the eggs and larvae while males defend the territory (Ref. 40602).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 14 September 2020 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
